Rubber stopper

A rubber stopper is a small, tapered plug used to seal the openings of test tubes, flasks and other laboratory glassware. Stoppers made of cork are also available for this purpose. However, rubber stoppers are preferable for applications that require a tighter seal or a greater degree of chemical resistance.

Purpose

The primary purpose of a rubber stopper is to prevent a gas or liquid from escaping its container during a scientific experiment. Rubber stoppers can also prevent the contamination of samples by protecting the contents of laboratory glassware from air. Last, the use of rubber stoppers allows experimenters to shake or mix solutions without spilling them.

Shape

The standard stopper is cylindrical in shape, with a tapered bottom end. Some rubber stoppers contain one or two holes to allow the insertion of pipettes, tubing or test equipment (e.g., a thermometer).

Size

Rubber stoppers typically range in diameter from size 000 (0.5 inches) to size 16 (5 inches) at the top. The tapered bottom end ranges from five-sixteenths to 3.5 inches. Smaller stoppers are appropriate for test tubes and similar glassware; larger stoppers are appropriate for flasks and beakers.

Properties

The main properties that make rubber suitable for use as a laboratory stopper are its elasticity, chemical resistance and impermeability. Its elasticity allows it to form a tight seal against the inside of the glassware. Its chemical resistance makes it safe for use with many corrosive and otherwise reactive compounds. Its impermeability helps to prevent the escape of liquids and gases from the container.

1) Where is the rubber comes from ?

rubber comes from a milky white juice which some trees and plants have instead of sap. This liquid, called latex, can be found in the roots, stems, branches, bark, leaves, and fruit of over 400 different plants. Most latex, however, comes from the inner bark of the hevea, or rubber tree

To get the latex, workers cut narrow slits in the bark of the rubber tree at daybreak, for the latex flows easily when the air is still cool. The latex is then allowed to drip into cups attached to the tree for three hours.

The latex, which is 2/3 water, is then taken to a rubber factory quickly, for it spoils easily. There, it is heated and mixed with acid. This process causes the latex to coagulate, or form solid curds. These curds are crude rubber.

2) What are the colors your factory can make ?

We can make any colors on the pantone cards, what’s you should do is telling me the color numbers you want, then our factory will match the colors for you according to your requirements.

3) How can you make sure the dimensions are correct of the products ?

We have thickness gauges, hardness testers, callipers, tension testers and other instruments to make sure each parts of your products are correct, also we use our CNC machines to produce molds, the precision can reach to 0.01 mm.

Yes, we have a very big mold factory, we have 30 Machines and 20 technical staffs to make molds

So we can finish your mold within 5 days after receiving your deposit.

We have 50 general workers to produce products after molds are ready, they work 3 shifts, it is never stop to produce products, so we are confident to finish any order on time.
